Week Seven Boys and Girls’ Player of the Week/Week Eight and Week Nine Nominees

Congratulations to Newark Charter senior guard Sean Locks (124 of 334 votes) and Middletown senior forward Sa’ni Savage (157 of 289 votes) for winning First State Hoops Report’s Week Seven Boys’ and Girls’ Player of the Week honors.

Locks scored 45 points in 2-0 week for the Patriots, including a game-high 23 in 53-47 win over A.I. duPont Tuesday January 17 and a game-high 22 in 69-45 win over Charter School of Wilmington Thursday January 19.

Savage scored 62 points in a 2-0 week for the Cavaliers, including a girls’ basketball state-high 42 points in a 74-39 win at MOT Charter Tuesday January 17.

Stefan Solis, sr. guard, Charter School of Wilmington – scored 45 points in 1-1 week for the Force. Game highs of 22 and 23 points in a 61-42 win vs. Wilmington Christian Tuesday January 24 and a 50-38 loss at A.I. Friday January 27 respectively.

Blair Thomas, jr. guard, St. Georges – Team-high 17 points in a 68-45 win at Newark Tuesday January 24, 17 points in a 57-50 win at Howard Thursday January 26.

Niame Scott, sr. guard, Mount Pleasant – tied for team-high with 12 points in 56-55 win vs. Delcastle Tuesday January 24, team-high 16 in 61-29 win over McKean Thursday January 26.

Week Eight Girls

Ella Carroll, so. forward, Odessa – recorded a double-double (11 points and 17 rebounds) as the Ducks won at Dickinson 35-21 Tuesday January 24, their first win of the season

Caitlin Smith, sr. guard, Tower Hill – 43 points in 2-0 week for the Hillers. Season-high 27 points in a 49-28 win at Delcastle Tuesday January 24, team-high 16 points in 41-15 win at McKean Friday January 27.

Cherish Bryant, so. guard, Tatnall – 47 points in 2-1 week for Hornets. Team-high 15 points in 58-41 win over Padua Tuesday January 24, team-high 20 points in 56-15 win at St. Andrews Thursday January 26, 12 points 53-44 loss to Lansdale Catholic Saturday January 28.

Ericka Huggins, jr. guard/forward, St. Elizabeth – scored 22 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in a 41-36 win at DMA Tuesday January 24, scored 16 points and grabbed 16 more rebounds in a 47-30 win vs. Saint Mark’s Thursday January 26.
