Delaware men

The Blue Hen men went 3-0 last week, winning the Route 1 Rivalry at Delaware State 59-48 in between home wins over Long Island University (75-67) and Maryland-Baltimore Country (70-60). Sanford graduate and 2020 boys’ basketball player of the year Jyare Davis scored a season-high 11 points in the win over UMBC Sunday.

The Hens (7-3) close out their home stand with games against Lafayette (Wednesday 12/08) and Moravian (Friday 12/10) before an 11-day break then a game at Iona on December 21.

Delaware women

The UD women lost a heartbreaker at Columbia University Thursday 73-67. The Hens (6-2) are the road this week, playing at Southern Methodist University tonight, then a visit to Big Ten member Northwestern this Saturday.

Senior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey now leads all of NCAA Division I in scoring with a 27.9 points per game average.

Delaware State men

The Hornets hung tough in the Route 1 Rivalry game with UD, but fell 59-48 Thursday, then lost a 75-58 decision at Longwood (Va.) Saturday. DSU’s next game at home is this Saturday vs. Saint Francis University.

Delaware State women

The Hornet women lost a 77-50 decision at home to Saint Peters University Saturday. Senior forward Zoe Holmes picked up another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and first-year guard Joy Watkins led the DSU women with 17 points. Next up for DSU is two games in North Jersey as they visit Farleigh Dickinson tonight and Rutgers on Sunday.

Del Tech men

The DTCC men swept through three games last week, running their winning streak to 4 games and improving to 5-6 on the season. First up was a 78-57 win at Mercer County College on November 30. Rashaan Butler (Mt. Pleasant) and Izaiah Credle (Smyrna) led Del Tech with 19 points each in that win.

Thursday, Del Tech defeated RCSJ-Cumberland 83-49 behind 22 points from Butler, 13 from Jared McGarrity and 12 each from Credle and Syed Myles (Caesar Rodney). Finally, the trio of Butler, Myles and Credle combined for 55 points in a 77-69 win over visiting Lackawanna Saturday. Next up for Del Tech is a road game at the County College of Morris this Saturday.

Del Tech women

The DTCC women’s three-game winning streak was snapped by Lackawanna College 98-70 Saturday afternoon. Daqira Lancaster-Navarro (Delcastle) led Del Tech with 25 points, while Melena Credle (Smyrna) added 17. Sierra Smith (Woodbridge) and Armani Bell-Jackson (Brandywine) chipped in with 13 and 12 points.

Del Tech is on the road tonight at Harcum College before an eight-day break, then a home game against the College of Southern Maryland on Wednesday December 15.

Goldey-Beacom men

The Lightning split their first two CACC games of the season, defeating Georgian Court 88-75 at home Wednesday, then losing a tough 73-68 game at Chestnut Hill Saturday.

Against GCU, Nazim Derry scored 35 points, Malcolm Weathers scored 15 and Mekhi Collins added 11 points and a team-high eight assists. Against Chestnut Hill, Juran Ligonde led GBC with 17 points, Derry added 15, Ese Efekodo (Appoquinimink) scored 12 and Tyler Jones scored 11 points.

GBC continues conference play tonight as Jefferson University visits the Jones Center, then they head back on the road for a game at the University of the Sciences Saturday.

Goldey-Beacom women

Similar to the men’s team, the Lightning women defeated Georgian Court (90-78) on Wednesday and lost to Chestnut Hill (77-57) Saturday.

Against GCU, Briana Seltzer scored 26 points, Alexis Harrison scored 22 and Mickey Williams added 14 points. Against Chestnut Hill, Seltzer and Harrison both led the team again with 16 and 12 points respectively. Williams, Janiya Stevens (Sussex Tech) and Sarah Round added six points each. GBC starts a doubleheader tonight at the Jones Center vs. Jefferson, then visits the University of the Sciences Saturday.

Wilmington men

The WilmU men lost their CACC opener at Jefferson 67-60 December 1, then defeated Holy Family 80-71 at the WilmU Sports Complex Saturday.

Against Jefferson, Danny Walsh (William Penn) led the Wildcats with 16 points, Randy Rickards (Cape Henlopen) added 13 and Ethan Tarte contributed 10 points. Against Holy Family, guard Kameron Cooper scored a career high 24 points while Walsh and Justin Thomas (Newark Charter) each scored 17 points. Rickards scored nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wildcats, who visit the University of the Sciences tonight and CIAA member Lincoln University Thursday before hosting Lock Haven Saturday afternoon.

Wilmington women

The Wildcat women suffered a 74-37 loss at Jefferson December 1, then picked up their first win of the season Saturday, using a 25-9 fourth quarter run to defeat Holy Family 69-64.

Against Jefferson, Daja Claiborne recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Against Holy Family, both Sabreen Muslim (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Kiara Eubanks (14 points, 13 rebounds) recorded double-doubles and Emily Ansah (Newark Charter) added 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Wildcats visit University of the Sciences tonight, then host CIAA member Elizabeth City State Saturday afternoon.

#delhs Standouts

Men’s Basketball

Fah’Mir Ali (Mt. Pleasant graduate, sophomore, College of Charleston): Scored 10 points on 5-9 from the field, also grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists in CoC’s 91-88 OT loss to Furman Friday.

Mikey Dixon (Sanford graduate, senior, Idaho): Scored season-high 27 points in the Vandals’ 81-75 loss to Southern Utah Saturday. Second leading scorer on the team (14.4 points per game) and leading free throw shooter (79.5 percent)

Colin Hockenbrock (St. Elizabeth graduate, sophomore, PSU-Brandywine): Third on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game, second in field goal percentage (47.4 percent) and third in rebounding (5.1 per game).

Jamar Wright (Conrad graduate, sophomore, PSU-Brandywine): Fourth on team in scoring (7.7 points per game) and fifth in rebounding (2.9 per game).

Women’s Basketball

Terea Hunt (Caravel graduate, junior, Neumann): Scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and handed out three assists in the Knights’ 58-45 win at Lancaster Bible November 30.

Allie Kubek (Sanford graduate, sophomore, Towson): Second on the Tigers in scoring (15.4 points per game), team leader in field goal percentage (60.2), tied for the team lead in total blocks (7) and fourth in rebounding (5.9 per game).

Olivia Lynch (St. Elizabeth graduate, first-year, Virginia Union): Played a season-high 22 minutes in the Panthers’ 68-55 loss at Johnson C. Smith December 1. Scored seven points, collected three steals, grabbed two rebounds and handed out two assists.

Aniah Patterson (St. Thomas More graduate, Dover native, junior, Chowan University): Second on the Hawks in scoring (11.5 points per game) and total assists (12), ranks third in rebounding (4.8 per game) and fourth in total steals (6).

Serena Pluta (St. Mark’s graduate, sophomore, Washington College): Appeared in 8 games for the Shorewomen to date. Averaging 4 points and second on the team in rebounding (5.4 per game).

Kaleigh White (Ursuline grad, sophomore, Washington College): Started all 9 games for the Shorewomen to date. Averaging 3.9 points and 3.4 points per game. Leads team in total blocks (7) and tied for second in total steals (6).
