The home for all things basketball in the state of Delaware

Vikings’ balance keeps them undefeated

Any style of basketball that can be played, there’s a good chance this version of the St. Elizabeth girls’ basketball team can play it, maybe even master it.

Their full balance was on display with three players scoring at least 12 points and slowing Conrad’s offense to a crawl in a 46-27 win Tuesday night. The Vikings moved to 7-0 with the win.

The first quarter belonged to junior guard Rory Cizskowski (team-high 13 points), who scored eight points in the period to lead St. E to an 18-5 lead after one and a 23-11 halftime lead. The second half was a team effort, as sophomore guard Farrah White scored nine of her 12 points in the second half and assisted on baskets to Naia Pulliam (also with 12 points) and Januarie Tate to help keep St. E comfortably in front for the duration of the contest.

Conrad (9-2) was led by Ny Whittlesey’s nine points, including a free throw early in the second quarter that marked her 1,000th career point. Whittlesey became the fourth girls’ player in Conrad history to reach 1,000 points and the second Delaware high school player to achieve the milestone this season (Sanford boys player Nnanna Njoku scored his 1,000th point in a win at Howard on Monday).
