Hornets take Senior Night win with high-flying Banks and Scott leading the way

By Chris Stevens, Editor

In what could be one of their final games on their home floor, Tatnall seniors Omari Banks and Bryce Scott took to the air to give the school something to remember them by.

Banks glided to a team-high 21 points while Scott thundered his way to 18 as the Hornets (4-4 in Indpendent Conference play) jumped out to a big lead and held off Wilmington Christian 56-47 Tuesday night, improving to 8-4 on the season.

Banks scored eight first quarter points, including a soaring dunk off an errant Wilmington Christian pass, to give the Tatnall a 10-3 lead after one. Scott scored seven points in the second quarter to push the margin to 10 (21-11) at intermission.

The Warriors (5-7 overall, 2-6 Independent Conference) battled back behind junior Daniel Starkey and senior Dante Brinkley, who combined for 22 second half points to pull Wilmington Christian back within striking distance.

That was before Scott threw down a thunderous dunk over a Wilmington Christian defender that re-energized the Hornets and helped them close the game out. Banks coasted in for a layup to make the score 50-40 with 90 seconds remaining and Tatnall was never threatened seriously after that.

Daniel Starkey led Wilmington Christian with 17 points.
