The home for all things basketball in the state of Delaware

All City Classic goes to Philly

Sunday afternoon and evening, Salesianum hosted the All City Classic, an event that showcased the best of the Philadelphia area high school talent vs. some of Delaware’s best.

In the opening game, 6’8 center Khalif Crawley scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for game MVP honors as Math Civics and Science Charter took care of Newark 67-39. Trent Middleton also scored 17 for MCS. Jaiden Smith led the Yellowjackets with 13 points and Kamau Lately added eight points.

The second game was the game of the day as Howard took on Neuman Goretti in a game that went down to the wire and then some. Howard trailed 65-62 when the Saints couldn’t make both ends of the bonus and senior guard De’Mere Hollingsworth (the Wildcats’ leading scorer with 17 points) drained a three from the left wing with 20 seconds left in the 4th quarter to tie it. Hollingsworth however fouled out in overtime and that gave Masud Stewart (the game’s high scorer with 26 and MVP award winner) and Robert Wright III (14 points) enough time to close out a 77-72 win.

In the nightcap, Philadelphia Public League champion Imhotep Charter led wire to wire behind 6’8 sophomore Justin Edwards’ 14 points. Isaiah Hynson led all scorers with 19 for Salesianum and Justin Molen came off the bench on a sore ankle to add 11, but the Panthers’ guard play was the difference as they took a 61-46 decision.
